I am sick. Unbelievable. I never get sick. I once went three years with no illness whatsoever. Well, now I have a sore throat and a dry cough and it feels like someone is squeezing my head with all their might. Ugh.
No one else here is sick (yet) thankfully, as one person moaning about is more than enough. Finn's family leave in a few days and I hope that if they have caught my cold it doesn't kick in until they get home. Can you imagine taking a flight from Toronto to Dublin with a cold? How horrible!
In other news I found out today that the new job I was supposed to start on Jan 5 has been postponed to the week of Jan 12. What a sigh of relief. I'm going to be working part time at a new Edible Arrangements location here in town, and while I am excited I still feel like I need a bit of time to decompress from the Christmas/New Year/Engagment madness. The phone has been ringing off the hook with people calling to wish us well, and we are still entertaining Finn's family. I seriously underestimated how much effort that would take. I love them, but I'm tired of being "on".
Anyway, that's enough complaining for now. We had a very lovely Christmas full of presents and laughter and drunken speeches about love and family from a few of my uncles. New Year's looks to be a quiet night, thank God. Finn's parents are going to see some friends of their's in the city for a party, and Finn, his sister and I are going to go see a movie (probably Valkyrie) and have some nice Thai food at a really great restaurant that just opened. I'm quite sure the three of us will be tucked up on our air mattresses long before midnight. My days of partying and staying up 'till three am seem a distant memory.
So, I hope everyone has a lovely New Years, whatever your plans are. It will soon be time to return to the everyday stuff we do the rest of the year, so enjoy your holidays while you can!
Oh, honey; I'm sorry you're sick. Remember to drink extra fluids. I like hot water with lemon juice and honey. Happy New Year, and I'm glad you're going to have some time to chill before beginning it all again.
